Christine Abadilla Fogarty
( She/Her/Hers )Christine Abadilla Fogarty is associate director of the Global Museum. Her primary duties include museum administrative operations, audience engagement, and internship logistics within the Global Museum and externally with museum community partners for Museum Studies graduate and minor students. Christine has been a lecturer in Museum Studies since 2007, teaching area emphasis courses in museum education, volunteer management, and exhibition development, and serves on student thesis committees in these areas. Formerly, she was the academic support coordinator for the Museum Studies Program from 2000 to 2015.
Prior to SF State, Christine worked for over 10 years in collections and educational programming at museums in the SF Bay Area and Seattle, Washington. She holds a BA in Art and Art History from San José State University, and an MA in Museum Studies and multiple-subject teaching credential, both from SF State. She is especially interested in object-based learning, informal learning and pedagogy, culturally responsive teaching and community engagement with underrepresented museum audiences, and participates in museum committees and professional activities that encompass these topics. Christine also acts as staff liaison for the Museum Studies Student Association at SF State, and supports museum and program outreach to Museum Studies alumni.
